DSF is a ranked competition, divided into 2 categories:  (age as of January 1, 2018)
Junior (ages 13-14)
Senior (ages 15-18)

The winner of the Senior category will advance to sing their piece with the Baylor Symphony Orchestra in the Grand Prize Winners Concert.

Junior Fee:   $30
Senior Fee:  $50
Accompaniment fee for each category is $30

 

Solo/Ensemble – Dates according to Region and/or School

Grades 6-8

Perform a classical solo for adjudication.

Must register through your school choir director.

$25 Accompaniment Fee applies.

 

All-Region Audition –   Date varies according to region.

Held at a middle school in your school region.

8am – 5pm (You will be assigned a time.)

Must register through your school choir director.           

            All-Region Pre-Rehearsal – Arranged by region           

           All-Region Clinic/Concert – Arranged by region
           All Day

Students are judged on 3 pieces sung by memory, contrasting styles and time periods.  They accumulate points for trophies, based on their score and receive a judge's critique.

 

TCDA Honor Choir – Only offered in odd numbered years

Grades 7-8

Texas Choral Directors Association holds auditions each year (deadline usually in March) through your school choir director.  Students selected from across the state perform in San Antonio.  Expenses involve transportation/hotel/meals.  200 students chosen from Texas.
